Since 2015 the RSC and PYF have been working in partnership to bring quality opportunities and experiences to young people in Coventry.

Once a month we take our creative young people down to our friends at Fargo Village and host an open mic session. Our FREE sessions are designed to give young people a space to showcase their creativity.

The RSC are keen to target cohorts of young people who have either never engaged in an RSC experience, or those who have felt it something inaccessible to them.
A series of tours, viewings and workshops have been followed up by detailed consultation which continually asks; ‘How can we improve our service, for you and your peers’.

Our PYT were invited to join the RSC Audience Development Forum, giving insight into a customer experience of an evening at the RSC.

Beneficiaries have also enjoyed drama workshops by leading professionals, and private tours of the theatre’s inner workings.

In October 2016, three young people have been invited to deliver a short speech at the opening of a new exhibition at the Swan Theatre. ‘The Play’s the Thing’ is a new family-friendly visitor attraction which takes visitors behind the making of the RSC’s productions.

In November 2016, eight young people from PYF took over The RSC’s new exhibition as part of the national 11-million TakeOver Day (http://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/).
